“Troubadours” has been inspired by the would be medieval social occasions, and habits and hobbies of people in those days. Restless circus parades, unsteady traveling musicians, binge and carousals, sophisticated masks and costumes, old playing cards, or the fleshpot of Venetian masks, and symbols that pulled Ensor to re-image the same subject repeatedly; people hiding their personalities trough coquetry and mystic, concealing behind masks, like behind the shield. It is what intrigues me.
