As in any of my artworks, they began on impulse, on a need to create and express thoughts through color. Making a visual rendering of social realities that in most cases had been already forgotten in our changing world.
This series of images, collect a multiplicity of feelings like frustration, anger, misunderstanding, hope and renewal among many others. Artworks that attempt to recall to our memory the tragedy experienced by those who have felt themselves victims of the land mines, of artillery that have elapsed in time beneath our feet; weapons that suddenly can come back a life, and destroy the livelihood of any one child, woman or man.
It is an effort to remind us about the compromise that we have with our selves and with our belief to protect life.
In the composition I use an overlapping collage of images and color in which the woman and children become the representation of a virgin, of a deity, a mundane god like figures that become the representation of a duality between the hope of life and in an instant of possible death. A symbol that challenges and contrasts our bad memory and lack of responsibility for the conservation of life, with a facial gesture of pain, and the visualization of the forgotten weaponry, military hardware that was aimed to target the enemy. An unrest that rapidly fills up the pages of newspapers with lost and won wars, conflicts that have left behind live shells, explosives, that until today continue to steal the lives and hopes of people and families.
