“The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature.” â Joseph Campbell
Aether & Hemera’s Heart_Bit is an interactive lamp that provides not only an ambient white light but also an emotional red accent which triggers at the exact same rhythm of user’s pulse.
When you touch the sensor your heartbeat is transformed into lighting effects.
People can experience their heartbeat and see their pulse represented trough ‘choreographic light’ in an attempt to make ‘visible’ something which is normally only ‘audible’, to make it more public and to share it.
The aim is to provoke emotions and memories and elicit empathic engagement. The Heart_Bit lamp uncovers perceptions, embodying them in a different medium; technology is not the focus, but a serendipitous tool for greater involvement, surprise and enchantment.
Aether & Hemera is a cross-disciplinary collaboration between new media architect Claudio Benghi and lighting artist Gloria Ronchi exploiting digital media to engage with the user and induce feelings of connective human experiences.
In their search for a merger of digital technologies, virtual spaces and sensual and physical experiences, they created the Heart_Bit lamp, a fusion of design, user experience and time-based narrative.
