The atom, and light is the central focus of investigation within my practice. From this standpoint I am concerned with the Nano-object, its movement and its formations. The perception of light, the formations of different matter, the transitions of gases, and the inter-relational interactions of these elements are of core concerns. At this moment, the focus is on terrestrial landscape (the natural world and the man-made world), and life within the landscape. Ergo human interaction with environs, vis-à-vis the human condition plays a significant role in this concern.

The painting is based on the deepwater incident of 2010 in America; the BP oil explosion that occurred in the pursuit of a notable resource.

The painting speaks to modern society’s addiction to oil — it speaks to the consumer consumption age, and the insatiable appetite for more.

The painting is of addiction at a macro level; the image is one of simultaneous gratification and loss. On the one hand, there is loss of life as a result of the exploration for more, and on the other hand there is a satisfaction from the find of the pursuit.
