The E.L.Woshinsky Collection is an on ongoing — ever expanding visual archive of one model.

A study in portraiture, this project documents through drawings and paintings several personas enacted by the subject in her professional life as a Burlesque/Carnivalesque performer. Her many guises range from sexy, absurd to the grotesque and cover a range of female archetypes. In addition, I am also inventing new characters, mixing up the costumes and prosthetics. I employ her stage personas as actors in my own play of portraits, creating new identities and scenarios. Via the title of each work, the images are accessioned with the name of the model’s stage character, in addition to a date corresponding to the day they were made.

These works are produced from live model sessions, photographs, sketches, memory, and, from completed drawings and paintings. Thus far, this recycling of source material has resulted in several monochromatic mini-series: multiple variations of one specific pose, creating several readings/meanings of one character.
