I started making a photographic collection of shadows. Most of them are self portraits. Of the ones you see here three were taken in Nice, France and two were taken in Tokyo, Japan. Shadows are fascinating because they look the same all over the globe. In Europe, as with other places on the planet, change brought about by globalization and economic strife has forced the continent to take a look at itself and it’s relevance in the future of the world. I am expressing this idea with my poem and my pictures.
Shadows
Place on the ground where we block the sun
There’s light but also simulation of night
Traveling night that we carry with us
Even when there’s little light
We still have it camouflaged
Dark stalker always waiting to show
Even shadows are what you make of them
Don’t agree then get out of the shade
notice how different the rays
Some days when people shuffle
Some become only shadows
Or their shadows become only shadows
Both trying to find their way to completion
To becoming more
than Plato’s allegorical
representations of the world
