Opus is a series of abstract land and seascape paintings.
Each numbered piece attempts to illustrate the physical beauty of nature and psychological link between man and environment. The land and seascapes represent familiarity, order and safety, borne from places visited by the artist throughout Europe.
More so the paintings demonstrate a personal perspective through the minds eye of the artist regarding the underlying social affects of future uncertainty within our countries, brought about by riots, unemployment, depletion of the natural environment and the continuing global financial collapses that threaten the world, including the social stability of modern Europe.
The texture of scaring and cuts on canvas, and black and white tone represent human anger, pain and frustration. Ultimately the viewer is challenged with their own perceptions of sense of place, belonging and reality and of how our physical existence bleeds into our consciousness and shapes our own inner psychology landscapes.
