The subject matter of this painting is based on a childhood memory of the Dutch bulb fields in the Netherlands where flowers are harvested for the cut flower market. I grew up the Netherlands so this piece is based on a memory. The mixed media I used in the painting comes from the packaging and detritus that is part of my everyday existence living in the Western world. So the painting is also a form of self-portrait. This painting is part of a series. I am enclosing “Autumn light in the woods “ as this one reminds me of the quality of light around the time of the harvest festival.
