We are a group of sculptures, tailors, and video artists who have been building a miniature alchemedic chamber with a fully functioning kiln and dye room in an old rag warehouse. The set is around 5 feet wide and 8 feet tall and will eventually be surrounded by glass and accompanied by a short video. The exploratory nature of the set allows for the viewer to engage voyeuristically with the walls and its deteriorating objects. Glassware is filled with insects and bones while bricks and scrolls are propped up against furniture pieces and drawings. The isolation of the space plays upon the audiences phobias while the viewer is able to peer in from a distance. This creates a direct relationship rather then the displacement of fear that emerge with a television screen or newspaper.
