I make digital collages from collecting images from old magazines then scan them, this how a lot of my works became to play around with the idea of advertising and design.
The scanner is one of the most important components within my work. My collages can only truly work as one piece because of the scanner and its reflective nature. I am constantly being faced with a mirror image of what i am trying to portray, and i am able to combine many elements that might not usually be put together. Patterns are used as a theme within the work, to heighten in the idea of the reflective nature of the machine and its process. They become symbols for mathematics and technicality over the free hand placing of the other objects placed within the collage. This is a friction that i enjoy to play around with. This is what i have done with the with the text and furniture in this particular piece. They start off flipped and reversered and i have the choice and ability to adjust them, and changed the reflection.
