The photos are from a series of work reconstructing scenes from my childhood in Hamburg, Germany after World War II. I now live in Australia.
Not far from where I lived was a Nissenhut Camp for refugees from Eastern Europe. The little girls from the working class neighbourhood were not allowed to go in there, but it held a great fascination, so we often went to get a good look from a distance and sometimes even sneaked in. This series mixes memories with fiction. It shows scenes from the point of view of Zora, who lives in the camp and notices that she is being watched by a strange girl from outside.
