All the pieces that I sent you have a European feeling for me, for example the stone for “Hiding from skully” comes from Ibiza, the title comes from a novel set in London and Dublin written by an ex pat American living in Ireland, the novel “The Gingerman” was written by J P Donleavy and was banned from publication in the states for decades, eventually it was published in England.
My sculpture “Hiding from skully” has been shown at exhibitions in, Ireland, France, Spain, and the USA.
My painting “Venus” is my tongue in cheek interpretation of the wonderful masterpiece by Botticelli… An Englishman’s (me) idea of an Italians idea of a Greek goddess painted in Spain.
The Noop is Italian Carrara marble, sculpted on Ibiza by an Englishman (me).
The noop now lives in Marbella. shown in Ireland (North and South), France, and Spain.
Torso is “Macael” marble from Almeria Spain, carved again by an Englishman (me) in France, and will soon live in Switzerland.
I understand that my explanations are lighthearted and could relate to many products, but please take into consideration the many thousands of Kms that I and these pieces have travelled in order to be produced and displayed, apart from my work Venus the sculptures began life millions of years ago as part of a mountain in various parts of Europe, the cut stone then travelled to wherever I carved it, the finished pieces travelled to be seen, and eventually travelled to the places they are now, and I am sure they will continue to travel for more years than we can imagine.
