I lived half of my life behind the iron curtain and the other half without it. Imagining, how things are on the other side and having the chance to find it out is a first hand experience for me. This made me think that the different stages — from the being totally closed to the clearly opened up state — shown by the members of the set can be associated with the very recent history of Europe. Having the continent been divided into two parts, people from both sides knew quite little about each other. I remember, what we thought as children about the western part of Europe, and now I have real knowledge about it, which I gained gradually, when the chance came after 1989.
One takes a look at the flat surface of „Seven Rollers 01” and tries to imagine, what is behind the cover, checking out the other members of the set, and gets to the „Seven Rollers 05”, where the total inner structure is revealed. So I associated steps of cognition with what is happening to us – back and forth — now in Europe.
