Constantly surrounding by items. One, then another and so on. When will an individual fall into excess?
When will he switch to “I possess this and this” to “this and this possess me”?
Our necessity to accumulate, to own, could be determined by the reflection of both loneliness and desire to communicate. A painful parody of a dream of a better and more beautiful life
Behind apparently reassuring signs of conformity, it would designate terrors and anxieties sometimes irreducible. We can see a sort of phobia of emptiness, a loneliness phobia. An absurd and ritual reproduction of stereotypes revealing individual and collective fears and delusions of a world enslaved by unrestrained consumption.
- A vacuum as a reflection of loneliness.
A filling as a form of reassuring and engaging company
Yes, the object! We do not ask ourselves, if it appreciates us, if it thinks of us, if it misses us. It is there, always there for us, it does not disappoint us, and we do not ask it embarrassing questions. Then, the object, would it be our best friend ?
In these images, “who is the real owner of the space?” Morbid cohabitation ? Or human controlled and invaded by his own items ?
