I use my Synesthesia to translate what I see when I hear sounds into the sculptures using thousands of toothpicks. When I hear sounds I see colors and undulating patterns and for “Euclidean Pod” I have used various works of Mozart and the sound track to the television show “Merlin” as my reference in which cataloging the color patterns was very important. My “Laughter Pod” is what I see when I hear the sound of laughter which is usually a very yellow sound so I found it necessary to focus on the patterns rather than the colors for this sculpture. “Disc Pod” is very large and was made based on a study of spiral galaxies in our Universe. My toothpick sculptures are very large often bigger than me and many of them are kinetic which is my endeavor to make them move as the sounds they’ve been inspired by also move.
