Inside / Outside
One can imagine constantly changing positions between the „inner“ and „outer“ world. The „inner world“ being a constructed reality. The individual interpretation of impressions, experiences, sensations, feelings and wishes influence the subjective interpretation of reality. The „outer world“ describes the space in which actual conditions and facts exist.
The works visualize the connection of a person to its environment. They are a mirror of situations, which I have observed and analyzed. The reflection upon this has in turn become staged photographs, in which an individual is isolated from its realistic surroundings and transported into a constructed reality.
By a constant change in perception of the „inner“ and „outer world“, one‘s inner images are projected outwards. Since the inner and outer influences determine each other, we have to constantly define and classify ourselves and others. The conflict between the „inner“ and „outer“ world is visualized in these two pieces.
The dream-like coexistence of contradictions and inconsistencies is a constantly recurring stylistic device in my work. I choose this form of representation, because the language and imagery allows me to record gained knowledge in an overall image.
