For my series of drawings I have extended the theme of Botany on a visual level and considered its position in relation to other things. My drawings are intended to be representative of some of the other living organisms that would be unable to exist within a fragile ecosystem without Botany in its broadest sense. The various species I have depicted are endangered due to reduction of habitat. This is a particular problem throughout Asia. The species I have focused on rely heavily on wooded areas and forest for sanctuary.

glowing purple and gold, as if at sunrise but without sun or sky,
a tilt of the head shifting masculine into feminine beauty and back,
making delicate strokes, dipping into an unseen pallet,
coming to life beside a swift-moving stream of great clarity and depth,
the surrounding land filling in, a lush green plain surrounded by trees,
a mountain rising up in the background, rising into a cerulean sky,
the valleys unseen, shaping themselves, filling the canvas,
and primal words derive: beauty, freedom, and danger.
